If a man or woman robs a bank of 10,000,000 dollars, and shortly get caught by the FBI, and other law enforcement officers with only nine of those million what do you suppose will happen to this individual? They are going to stand before a judge, and they will receive a verdict of “Guilty”. They will then be sentenced to many years of prison time, and if anyone was hurt during the commission of this crime, much more time will be added to the sentence.
What happens to the man or woman who has offended God when he or she stands before the Judge of all things? The Judge says to that man, or that woman; “Why should I not find you guilty, and sentence you to an eternity in hell?” This Judge is a just Judge. He is holy, and nothing vile, unclean or wicked will be able to stand in His presence. It must be judged rightly, and it will be.
The writer of the Psalms says:
“He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.” Psalm 103:10 (KJV).
The reason the Psalmist could say this is because he knew that all his sins had been paid for. He had been redeemed by someone of far greater value than himself. This is a debt that was paid by the one to whom it was owed.
God has not dealt with us after our sins, because if He did so He must in His holiness give us the eternal destiny of the Lake of fire. He must, because in our own arrogance and pride we hate and despise the Holy One. When we see Him for who He truly is, and by His own grace and mercy, it is then, that we can fully receive the forgiveness and cleansing that He gives to all who will believe. When we believe Him we can no longer allow that arrogance and pride to have dominion over us, but only Christ Jesus.
It is Christ Jesus who has made it possible for the Father to not deal with us according to our sins, nor reward us according to our iniquities, because He took the judgment that should have been ours.
Trust Jesus today, and live for Him.
