“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earh , waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” James 5:7-8 (NKJV)
The coming of the Lord will be one great and large event in human history. He has come the first time, in order to give Himself as the payment for all mankinds sins. He will come the second time as the King of kings and make all things right, putting an end to the rule and reign of evil upon the earth. Jesus said, “Let not your hearts be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3 (KJV).
Yes these words were spoken by Jesus nearly 2000 years ago. They are still relevant and needed by the professing Christian today. As Peter has said, there are scoffers who doubt that this is going to take place, however, it merely reminds us of the grace of God.
Many, believers and unbelievers alike ask the question, “Why does God not judge the evil that is in the world?” and ask “If there is a God why does he allow such evil to take place?” Part of the answer to that is grace. Another part of the answer to those questions is; if he were to rid the world of evil, there would be no member of the human race on this planet. Jeremiah the prophet spoke and said, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desparately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). The Psalmist has written, “There is none that doeth good, no not one.” (Psalm 14:3). Paul the apostle wrote to the Romans, “There is none righteous, no not one.” (Romans 3:10) quoting the fourteenth Psalm.
For nearly two thousand years the mercy and grace of God has been on display, and millions of souls have been delivered from the power and penalty, and one day the presence of sin. Sin is also being seen as the evil for which it truely is. If people want to identify it it is not difficult. It is due to sin that individual lives are ruined, families are ruined, and marriages are ruined, and marriage itself is on trial, through the legalization of homosexual “Marriage”. The seed of sin is bringing forth a crop of tares which will be ripe for the judgment. There is also the seed of righteousness growing, and when the field is ready for harvest only the Lord knows.
Patience is needed when it comes to the promise of the coming of the Lord. Like the farmers who sow their seeds in the Spring; the harvest does not take place the next day, or even the next week. Most harvests takes place in the Autumn/Fall of the year or late Summer. So with sin or righteousness, we can know that “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galations 6:7).
Believer; wait patiently for the coming of the Lord. It is nearer than it has ever been. If you are not believing in Jesus Christ today as your personal Lord and Savior, then, believe this, He said, “I will come again…” The field is ripe unto harvest. His coming is near. Repent of your sin, and call on the name of Jesus, confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead. (Read Romans 10:9-10).
Walk With God Today.
